Tennessee Students Receive New Coats Thanks to FedEx Cares
Christmas came early for many students at LaRose Elementary School thanks to FedEx Cares.
On December 14th, each student received a brand new coat through the annual FedEx Cares coat giveaway.
One fifth grader, Omari Cain, was full of smiles when he received his coat.
“It makes me happy,” Cain said.
FedEx gave out 350 coats, putting a smile on each student’s face and joy in their hearts.
“It’s just a heartwarming experience to be able to provide these students who may or may not have their own winter coat,” FedEx spokesperson Rachel Kesselman said. “It just gives them the opportunity to come to school warm, learn, and it’s just a heartwarming experience.”
This is the fifth year FedEx Cares has done the coat giveaway that organizers call Operation Warm.
FedEx Cares said it is also working to fight a larger problem in the community.
“We’re trying to reduce poverty in this zip code by five percent by 2020, so it’s a great way,” Kesselman added.
Kesselman says it’s a great way to put a smile on the children’s faces, days before Christmas.
“Just to see that smile on their faces, you just can’t beat it.”
