Press Release – Hollister Co. Partners with Operation Warm to Deliver 300 Brand-New Winter Coats to Denver Children in Need
Hollister Co. Continues Partnership with Operation Warm Coats for Kids Foundation
Denver, CO. – Nearly one in four children in Denver live in families with incomes below the federal poverty line. Necessities like warm winter clothing can be hard to come by when food, shelter, heat and medicine take priority.
On Thursday, November 30, Hollister Co. will deliver 300 brand-new winter coats to children in need at Valverde Elementary School in Denver through its partnership with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit dedicated to providing new winter coats to children in need. Hollister Co. will be hosting a total of six school-wide coat giving events across the country with Operation Warm this year, giving out a total of 3,000 coats in-person by Hollister employee volunteers.
Operation Warm believes providing a brand new winter coat to a child in need can be ‘more than a coat.’ Children living in poverty are accustomed to receiving second-hand clothing. By providing a new coat, especially around the holidays, a child is not only provided with warmth, but also a boost in joy and self-esteem.
Since 2015, Hollister Co. has partnered with Operation Warm to provide children in need with brand new winter coats through coat giving events supported by company initiatives such as ‘Round Up at the Register’ and ‘Buy a Coat, Give a Coat.’
“This event wouldn’t be possible without Hollister and their team of dedicated employee volunteers,” continued Kirsten Bradley, Operation Warm’s Associate Director of Partnerships. “This is our third year partnering together, not just in Denver, but across the country. And to have them not only fund the program, but allow their employees to gift the coats to the children in-person, it really exemplifies their community support.”
Hollister Co. employee volunteers will visit the Valverde Elementary School to personally fit each child with a new winter coat in their favorite color and help them write their name in the interior tag which reads, “Made Just for You.”
