Operation Warm is the No Excuses University Charity of the Year for 2013-2014
By: Frank Nardelli, VP of Network Development, No Excuses University
The No Excuses University Network of Schools has selected Operation Warm as their 2013-2014 Charity of the Year. Our growing national network of over 180 PreK-12 schools has united over 113, 000 students and over 6,000 educators from 21 states. We believe every student deserves the opportunity to be educated in a way that prepares them for college if they so choose to attend. We believe ALL children, even those who live in poverty or who are learning English, can be academically successful and attend college. Most importantly, we continue to prove that Public PreK-12 Schools have the power to make that dream a reality. It is our responsibility to prepare our students for a happy and successful future. An essential part of that effort is focused on the character development of every child and adult that works in a No Excuses University School.
We feel it is essential for our students to learn to appreciate what they receive as well as the value of giving. During the 2012-2013 school year, an average of 74% of all of the students in our Network of Schools qualified for free or reduced lunch. We certainly identify with the daily struggles of families and especially children across America who are in need.
Our Network selected Operation Warm as our Charity of the Year, because of the direct and positive impact Operation Warm makes on the lives of kids across the United States. We passionately support Operation Warm’s belief that every child deserves to feel “warm, healthy and valued.” We also appreciate that having a new, quality coat, “enhances a child’s well-being, builds self-esteem, and generates a feeling of worth for children living in poverty.”
Henry Ford said, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” The No Excuses University Network of Schools is proud to partner with Operation Warm and we look forward to showing our support for this important charity through our fundraisers during the 2013-2014 school year!
