IGS Energy Bundles Up Kids Across the US Through Partnership with Operation Warm

Since 2014, IGS Energy has partnered with Operation Warm for their annual “Bundle Up Campaign.”

Kerri Ward, Director of Corporate Communications at IGS explains how the campaign works: “We’re dedicated to giving back to the communities where we live and work. For our Bundle Up campaign, when a current or new customer ‘bundles’ (enrolls in two or more products), we make a donation to Operation Warm.”

Why Coats? Why Keep Kids Warm?

Well, after spending nearly 30 years in the energy industry, with emphasis in the buying and selling of natural gas, IGS understands how important it is to stay warm. As the company looked for an opportunity to give back to the community, guided by the philosophy of giving with purpose, the partnership with Operation Warm made a lot of sense.

“We partnered with Operation Warm because there is such a strong alignment between its mission and our business – the value of keeping someone warm.” Kerri says.

How the 2017 Bundle Up Campaign Was Different

While IGS has partnered with Operation Warm for the last four years, in 2017, the company doubled down on its commitment to the mission. Of the 17,500 coats donated over the life of the partnership, 13,589 coats were donated during the most recent campaign.

The Difference?

IGS worked to empower all of their employees to talk about the work of Operation Warm inside and outside the organization.

This was especially true for the company’s door-to-door sales representatives, known as Home Energy Consultants. During the campaign, Home Energy Consultants were empowered to talk to customers about the work of Operation Warm and its impact on their community.

Not only did the teams execute an integrated cause-marketing strategy to make these donations possible, IGS employees also participated in four employee volunteer events throughout Philadelphia, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland.

Tom Cephas, Regional Manager at IGS, attended the Pittsburgh elementary school where the team distributed coats to children in need.

“It was amazing to be able to give back in the community where I grew up.” Tom says, “IGS Energy and Operation Warm really are making a difference to these kids. As an employee, activities like these are a great opportunity to remind myself to be grateful and to give back to the community.”

Made Just for Kids

Partnering with Operation Warm is a way for a compassionate organization such as IGS Energy to give children in need a gift of warmth, hope and confidence. Operation warm believes that every child, regardless of their economic situation, deserves a brand new coat. It is this belief that inspires Operation Warm to turn donations into brand new high-quality coats to help families in need.

When a child is given a brand new coat – one that they have picked out themselves in their favorite color, it provides them with the feeling of pride in ownership.
