As we have for several years now, we supplied free winter coats to children – this year, more than 2,600 coats.
The holiday season is, for many children, a time for imagination and optimism. At the Harlem Children’s Zone, we try to support our families so that their children can have a happy holiday season no matter what the reality of their economic situation is.
As we have for several years now, we supplied free winter coats to children – this year, more than 2,600 coats. We also distributed 12,000 books and 5,000 toys to our children. In the days before Thanksgiving, we gave out 2,200 turkeys to our families, and served 1,400 turkey dinners to families.
Our ultimate goal is that all of our children will go on to college and lead productive adult lives, but we are still thrilled to keep our kids happy, warm and well-fed this winter. With the support of Scholastic, Penguin, Hasbro, NBC, Operation Warm and people like you, we were able to continue these HCZ holiday traditions, which help keep the future bright for thousands of children in Harlem.
