Buyers Products, Just In Time Staffing donate $15,000 to Coats for Kids to fund coat distribution at two Breakthrough Schools
Event marks 10th stop on Operation Warm’s ‘3 Millionth Coat Tour’ across America
December 13, 2018 – For the second year in a row, Mentor-based Buyers Products and Just In Time Staffing have donated $15,000 to Coats for Kids to make this winter much warmer for local students. This year, the funds will be used to provide new, warm winter coats to every student at Citizens Academy East and Citizens Leadership Academy East (12523 Woodside Avenue, Cleveland), both members of Breakthrough Schools.
Employees from both companies, along with Coats for Kids (CFK) representatives, will be at the school on Thursday, December 13 for a one-day distribution event in which a new winter coat will be given to every student – nearly 600!
“Last year, Buyers Products and Just In Time Staffing employees wanted to do something to give back, and decided to contact Coats for Kids because they are a small, local organization where we felt our donation could make a significant impact,” says Lisa Donato, vice president of human resources, Just In Time Staffing. “We were able to coordinate an event at North Elementary School in Madison, Ohio that was so heartwarming and well-received that we decided to sponsor another school coat distribution event this year.”
CFK worked with Buyers Products, Just In Time Staffing and school representatives to coordinate the distribution event, which will take place in the school gymnasium starting at 7:30 am on Thursday, December 13, and ending once each and every student in attendance has received a brand new winter coat.
“This event is special in many ways. In addition to being the second event sponsored by Buyers Products and Just In Time Staffing, it also marks the 10th stop across the U.S. of Operation Warm’s ‘3 Millionth Coat Tour,” says Debbie Martinko, executive director, Coats for Kids. “For the past several years, we have partnered with Operation Warm to purchase the brand-new coats we distribute each year to children throughout northeast Ohio. 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of Operation Warm. It’s also the year they will reach an incredible milestone – that of providing 3 million coats to children across the country.”
Dick Sanford is the founder and CEO of Operation Warm, a national charity that creates new, high quality coats made just for kids. “We partner with compassionate individuals and organizations like Coats for Kids, Buyers Products and Just In Time Staffing across the country. We believe a brand-new coat is more than a coat, promoting self-esteem, school attendance and outdoor play. The passion and dedication of our partners to our shared mission will help drive us toward reaching our 3 millionth child,” he says.
ADD ONE – Buyers Products, Just In Time Staffing Donate to Coats for Kids
Every year, CFK identifies K-8 schools in public school districts in a Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties with the highest numbers of children participating in the federal lunch program, then works directly with those schools to identify children in need of a winter coat. On average, CFK distributes 10,000 new coats each year through this program. Full school coat distribution events such as the event sponsored by Buyers Products and Just In Time Staffing, funded entirely by their generous donation, allow CFK to help even more children each year.

That first campaign filled the studio, and subsequent campaigns brought in even more coats, along with monetary donations used to purchase new coats. Since then, millions of dollars have been raised and hundreds of thousands of new and like-new coats have been distributed to children in need in northeast Ohio.
