Alaska Airlines Partners with Nonprofit Operation Warm to Provide Brand New Coats to Entire School

Alaska Airlines Associates give schoolchildren winter coats made just for them

Tacoma, WA. – Nearly one in five children in Tacoma live in families with incomes below the federal poverty line. Necessities like warm winter clothing can be hard to come by when food, housing, heat and healthcare take priority.

Alaska Airlines is partnering with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit dedicated to providing brand new winter coats to children in need, to help alleviate the financial burden of a brand new coat for hundreds of families in Tacoma.

On Wednesday, Nov. 7, Alaska Airlines will provide 250 brand new coats to children in need at Lister Elementary School in Tacoma through its partnership with Operation Warm. Operation Warm identifies children by qualification for the federal Free and Reduced Meal (FARM) Program. Lister Stanton Elementary School has 91% of its students living in need.

“Alaska Airlines is committed to giving back in ways that benefit our customers, our communities and our employees. We are excited to partner with Operation Warm and give a coat to every child at Lister Elementary. We truly believe that giving back is not just donating money, but making a difference; and we are excited to make a difference with Operation Warm,” said Andy Schneider, Vice President of People for Alaska Airlines.

“We’re so excited to have Alaska Airlines as a new corporate partner for Operation Warm,” Linda Sherran, Manager of Corporate Partnerships at Operation Warm, says. “We are very grateful to them for their generous support of the kids at Lister Elementary School.”

Alaska Airlines employee volunteers will visit Lister Elementary School to personally fit each child with a brand new winter coat in their favorite color and help them write their name in the interior tag which reads, “Made Just for You.”

Media is welcome to attend.
