How to Facilitate Growth in the Workplace
Growth is an important component of employee satisfaction and provides a sense of purpose while boosting engagement and productivity. Here are three ways you can grow in your workplace for free.
- 1. Be a Problem Solver: Solving unique or difficult problems has a twofold effect. First, you are helping your colleagues or keeping your clients happy. This is just good for business. Second, you are helping yourself. Problem-solving will get you noticed by your peers and management. Problems force people to think critically and creatively to find solutions. Look at every problem as an opportunity to learn something new.
- Open Yourself to Opportunities: Is there a new project outside of your department you can get involved with? Does your organization offer professional development or volunteer opportunities? These are just a few ways you can learn new things and meet new people. Making some time to embrace opportunities as they become available can lead to great things.
- Be Responsible for Your Own Success: If your organization does not offer outright opportunities for exploration and growth you may have to get creative. You are able to create opportunities for yourself at no cost. Being curious, networking with other departments, practicing smart time management, and expanding your contributions can help you learn and grow in your organization. To get started, embrace a can-do attitude and exude positive energy. People will be drawn to you and doors may open.
