Operation Warm is headquartered in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, about 35 miles southwest of Philadelphia. It operates as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and all contributions are tax deductible. Operation Warm operates with a small staff, who manage fundraising, develop programs, expand relationships with our various partner organizations, select coat styles, materials and colors and oversee the manufacturing and distribution of coats.

Operation Warm
Program and Development Intern

2012-2013 Summer, Fall, Spring or Academic-Year Internship Program

As the Program and Development Intern you will help to support the ongoing development of programs and fundraising at Operation Warm.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on a variety of projects related to programming and fundraising development
  • Participate in outreach to potential corporate and philanthropic partners for Operation Warm
  • Conduct and manage research projects as requested
  • Communicate with various parties (internally and with external vendors) for meetings/process to keep projects moving forward and deliverables on task
  • Assist with writing of communication updates for partners and key stakeholders
  • Maintenance of project calendars
  • Assist with other projects as needed
  • Engage regularly in our online social networking platforms
  • Keep and update a detailed log of procedures

Requirements:

•    Current college student or recent college graduate
•    Willingness to work at the Chadds Ford, PA location
•    Ability to plan, organize, and execute events
•    Highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess outstanding follow through skills
•    Strong relational and analytical skills
•    Ability to multi-task
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency
•    Proficient in Word/Excel
•    Effectively manages time and responsibilities
•    Able to work effectively both independently and part of a dynamic team


Delaware Challenge Intern – Fall 2012 and/or Academic Year 2012-2013

The Delaware Challenge Intern plays a central part in the Delaware Challenge’s mission of providing a new coat to every elementary school child living in poverty in Delaware. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work on a variety of projects related to the Delaware Challenge
  • Encourage and support the work of high school and college groups working with the Delaware Challenge
  • Participate in outreach to potential corporate and philanthropic partners for the Delaware Challenge
  • Plan and organize Delaware Challenge related events
  • Communicate with various parties (internally and with external vendors) for meetings/process to keep projects moving forward and deliverables on task
  • Assist with writing of communication updates for partners and key stakeholders
  • Maintenance of project calendars
  • Conduct research as needed
  • Assist with other projects as requested
  • Engage regularly in our online social networking platforms

Requirements:
• Current college student or recent college graduate
• Familiarity with Delaware schools preferred
• Reliable transportation strongly preferred (mileage will be reimbursed at IRS rate)
• Ability to plan, organize, and execute events
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess outstanding follow through skills
• Strong relational and analytical skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency
• Proficient in Word/Excel
• Effectively manages time and responsibilities
• Able to work effectively both independently and part of a dynamic team

Events Intern (Fall 2012)

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with organizing events related to One Night Without Warmth (ONWW), a national awareness event to highlight childhood poverty in the United States and the work of Operation Warm
  • Develop brand identity for the day
  • Develop and distribute materials related to ONWW
  • Write regular updates to supporters and volunteers concerning the day
  • Engage regularly in our online social networking platforms
  • Assist with the planning and staffing of regional coat distribution events
  • Assist with other projects as needed
  • Maintain a detailed log of procedures

Requirements:

•    Current college student or recent college graduate
•    Ability to plan, organize, and execute events
•    Highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess outstanding follow through skills
