Partner, Coats For Kids, Receive Award

April 05, 2010

Coats for Kids began an innovative program in 2007 with the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, that provided coats to disadvantaged children in the district. Seven district stations participated and coats were delivered to elementary schools, but officers also patrolled the streets with new coats in their cars and when they saw children without coats they stopped and gave them a new one. The program has helped the police department strengthen relations between the department's officers and children on the streets. Fot their efforts the Darby's were presented The Award along with 22 other people who participated in the program. Coats For Kids has been a partner of Operation Warm's since 2007.
