Operation Warm Launches its College and University Program

November 01, 2008

November 2009-Last fall Operation Warm launched its new College and University Program at The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Members of Penn’s Panhellenic and MultiCultural Greek sororities raised funds by having bake sales, soliciting friends, parents and fellow students and raised over $ 4,500. That allowed the group to provide new coats to over 300 students at the nearby Alexander Wilson School, a public elementary school about a half mile from the campus.

Each student at The School was required to bring an empty plastic bottle, which is part of Operations Warm’s green initiative that will eventual feature new coats that are made of recycled plastic bottles. Next year members of the sororities plan to continue their effort and select another school in Philadelphia.
