Announcement made to expand partnerships with Canadian Rotary Clubs

At the Rotary International Convention, held in Montreal, Operation Warm announced it was expanding its Rotary Club programs into Canada. In response to growing interest on the part of Rotary Clubs in Canada, Operation Warm will now expand its community service programs to provide coats for Canadian children living in need. Maryland Organization Raises Funds for Homeless Children

Grassroots Crisis Intervention, is a 24 hour resource to individuals and families in need, based in Columbia, Maryland. The money was raised by an on-line solicitation placed by Courtney Shin Moon on Facebook. Courtney raised money for 130 coats that were distributed by the Grassroots to homeless children living in Howard County, Maryland. VIEW MORE

Heinz Community Grant

In 2009 the H.J. Heinz Foundation provided new winter coats in Pittsburgh to the Extra Mile Education Foundation. Over 6,500 children in the greater Pittsburgh area received new coats and Heinz was a major contributor to that effort. VIEW MORE
ADCK (Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation) Renews Program

ADCK is gearing up for another big year. In the fall of 2010 they plan on providing over 20,000 coats to underprivileged children in need in a five county region of greater Philadelphia. Driving Away the Cold, their signature program, is conducted in conjunction with Operation Warm. Now in its third year, the program distributes coats in communities where members of the Auto Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia operate their businesses. It is a signature program for both The Foundation and Operation Warm. VIEW MORE

A woman came to the CityTeam Ministries building at Seventh and Sproul streets in Chester last winter, looking for coats for her three children. The family of four had been living in a car. “That’s not the exception,” said CityTeam Family Services coordinator Laurie Dent. “That’s the norm.” That’s why Operation Warm, the Chadds Ford-based nonprofit that distributes new coats to preschool- through elementary-aged children, wants to raise funds for more coats this year.
